Fire Permits

Permit Required

Fire permits are now required for outside burning, even while raining.  They are available at the Campton-Thornton Fire Department Station #1, in Campton, at no cost.

If you can't make it to the fire station, they are also available online for a $3 fee, which is used to upkeep the online system.

We get lots of questions about burning brush. The NH Forests and Lands rules allow the burning of brush piles, with a permit, between the hours of 5:00 pm and midnight. You can burn brush during the day, only while there is active rain. If it stops raining, you need to extinguish the fire and wait until 5:00 pm, to resume burning the pile.
