THORNTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION OCTOBER MINUTES
Thornton Conservation Commission Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, October 4, 2011
Town Office Building
Sally Davis, Chair, called the meeting to order at 8:35am with Stephen Shaugnessey present. Fred Johnson was not present.
1. August minutes were approved as written.
2. The bank statement dated July 29, 2011 showed a balance of $3087.72.
3. Sally had asked the new librarian about storage of some of the pamphlets and other interesting materials for use by citizens and children in the library. She has shown interest in this so we will look at purchasing storage/display containers for them.
4. Steve noted the permanent removal of the sidewalk on the bridge and wondered how communication about this step by DOT would be better handled to get feedback from people.
5. Sally and Steve have both heard comments about the erosion resulting from the recent ditching. Sally will ask the BOS if there are plans for further steps to stop it such as sowing winter rye grass seed.
6. Steve attended a Timberowners Assoc. and Grafton Co. Forester’s Assoc. workshop on deer habitat.
7. Sally will contact Fred to find out if he forgot the meeting since changing the day we meet.
The November meeting will be November 1, 2011
The meeting adjourned at 9:05am.
