On site visit July 13, 2010

 

Proposed Sugar Shack Campground

 

On Tuesday, July 13, 2010 the Thornton Planning Board met and held an onsite visit at the proposed Sugar Shack Campground on NHRT 175. PID 10-03-37.

Board Members present: Bart Dutto, Chairman, Gloria Kimball, Selectwoman,

Tyler Phillips, Russell Gilman, Frank Freeman, Sandy MacIntosh, Carolyn Piantedosi, Fred Gunter and Marianne Peabody, Secretary.

Other Official present: Police Chief Parent

Public present: Brad Benton, Michael Benton, Beverly Chappell, Joel & Lee Freeman, Tom Anderson and Ardelle Gilman.

All persons present walked the field while Brad & Michael Benton pointed out boundary lines, buffers, sites along the brook, sites that have been removed along the brook and water pressurized sites cut and buried, roadways, swimming holes and fields used for camping, and names of the camping fields.

Board Members recommended that signs are posted with the names of the different areas for emergency access.

Abutter Beverly Chappell showed concern with camping customers swimming on her side of the brook. “No trespassing signs” were suggested.
